Luxury Cruise Singles Mixer is a group of wonderfully talented individuals who are bringing their seven-part harmony all the way from San Francisco, California, to Dallas, Texas! This close-knit group has performed in comedy festivals across the country, so don’t miss out on your chance to hang-10 with the members of Luxury Cruise Singles Mixer!
DCF: Your troupe name jumps out at people when they see it because it's so fun. How'd the name come about?
LCSM: We wanted something short, sweet, and easy to remember, so this was pretty much the only option. Especially since we're all obsessed with not only luxury cruises, but also all things related to singles mixers.
DCF: Where did this group meet each other?
LCSM: We met through classes at Leela Theater Co. in San Francisco, where we discovered our mutual passion for improv, and sweet, sweet seven-part harmony.
DCF: What's y'all's favorite things to do together when not performing improv?
LCSM: Oh, cooking, traveling, watching movies -- typical married stuff.
DCF: I personally have never been to California. What are things I have to make sure I do when I finally go?
LCSM: Definitely check out some improv shows. We also have mountains AND the ocean AND surfing -- it's true, we all surf. And hike, you should go hiking. Everyone in California loves hiking.
DCF: What’s y'all's favorite ’90s jam? As a group or individually!
LCSM: It's a serious three-way tie between Boyz-II-Men, boysenberry, and Space. Oh, and Shoop, so...four-way tie.
DCF: What are you most looking forward to doing in Dallas (besides the festival, of course)?
LCSM: We are, of course, looking forward to seeing some shows, meeting fellow improv nerds, and eating barbecue, as well as connecting with some of our most avid fans (read: Kalia's parents).
DCF: Finally, which movie stars would play y'all in a bio-flick of your act, and what would the movie be called?
LCSM: Peter acted as our casting director for our forthcoming movie, Murder Room (our cute pet-name for our rehearsal space). Kalia will be played by Jim Carrey, and in turn, she will also play him in his biopic. Our resident Frenchman, Manu, is played by venerated French actor, Vin Diesel. Casey, devilishly handsome and handsomely devilish, will be portrayed by Jane Lynch. The role of Peter, our very own dragon trainer, will be brought to life by Jay Baruchel. Mark -- tall! Canadian! a true warrior! -- will be played by Gwendoline Christie. In the role of Michael Peng, we have Oscar-nominee Timothée Chalamet, or depending on availability, a live (sedated) deer. And lastly, Ryan will be played by a chair and provide his own voice-over and motion-capture work.
